NOTE: We’re hosting a SPECIAL PRESBYTERY MEETING here at the church on Tues., Aug. 14, at 7:00 PM. Could you provide COOKIES or BARS for this event? Please bring them to the library by 2:00 PM that day (or, you may bring them on Sunday the 12th, & leave them in the library.) We’ll see to it that they’re attractively displayed for the meeting. Thank you, in advance, for your support.

Sun., August 12, HILDA HOLLE is being honored at a party in the library to celebrate the occasion of her 90th birthday (which is Tuesday, August 14.) EVERYONE in the congregation is invited to be there to enjoy cake, coffee, punch, & to give huge hugs to this lovely lady whose life is such a great blessing to us!

At 12 Noon on Sunday, August 12, Vacation Bible School has it’s “Kickoff” with a lunch at Faith Presbyterian Church in Franklin (approximately 42nd & Rawson). Then, MONDAY, AUGUST 13, through FRIDAY, AUGUST 17, Vacation Bible School will be held at HERITAGE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH in Muskego (just east of Sunny Slope Rd. on College Avenue). It’s a cooperative effort of the “Fabulous Four” churches (Faith, Heritage, New Berlin’s Forest Park, & GAPC.) It’s a wonderful opportunity; if you haven’t yet registered your youngsters, call Kristen Tan at 262-797-8278, or Heidi Todd at 414-235-4298, & sign them up! Cost is just $6.00 per child, or $15.00 per family with 3 or more children! The theme is “The Great Bible Reef”, & the children will learn how to live each & every day as God’s disciples. Stories about Jesus, crafts, songs billed as “catchy reef tunes”, games, snacks, & the opportunity to make lots of new friends are part of the excitement!

(Have your kids invite their friends to join them! There’s always room for more!)

ICE CREAM SOCIAL at the TARVID’S HOME, 7670 W. Honey Creek Pkwy., will take place on Sunday, August 26, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. You can build your own sundaes, socialize with your church family members, and -- a special, NEW addition to the festivities -- join in a beach/dodge/softball game in the park just across the street from Pastor Kev & Sally’s! For the uninitiated, it’s a softball-type game played with a small beach ball! EVERYONE is invited it’s always a super afternoon, & this promises to be the best one yet! (Those who wish to “bring something” for the occasion might like to consider PIE )

A NEW CHURCH DIRECTORY

We’re HOPING to get a new church directory together (printed by the church office, without photos) for distribution with the November issue of the “Messenger”. If you’ve MOVED, & haven’t remembered to give us your most recent address or WILL BE MOVING SOON, PLEASE do get us your new information to us as soon as possible. Our “old” photo directory is becoming seriously out-of-date; it’s time to get current!

From the Pastor:

Hi Friends:

As you may have heard: the news is out, & it gives us lots of food for thought! Over the past eight years, we are the fastest growing church in Milwaukee Presbytery!!! We have grown 47%!Just what does that mean?!? Well, I think it means a lot of things

  • We are a great group of loving and lovable people who are warm and welcoming!!!!!
  • Our life together has meaning: our worship, fellowship & service work well together!!!
  • People tend to feel comfortable among us -- Our expression of the Gospel of Jesus is one that folks can understand and embrace!!
  • We make faith life more like real life. That seems to be a big trend these days!
  • Whatever we’re doing, we need to do more of it. We need to continue to grow!!!
  • If there’s a way we can learn to share our success with other churches, we need to do that. The world needs growing churches more than ever!!!
  • We have not been afraid to try new things -- we’re willing to reach out to a changing community!
  • A lot of our success has come because our people are willing and happy to invite others to our church!!! We need more of that!

So -- What are the reasons I’ve missed? I’d love to hear your ideas, and ideas of how we can build on our success.

Call me -- Invite your friends and loved ones to church! God loves them. You too. Me too!

--- Pastor Kevin

That Lori Johnson is making such a rapid recovery from double-knee replacement!
