A MUSICAL “THANKSGIVING FEAST” -- our Second Annual Concert

to celebrate the life of Diane Hryniewicki and the Hryniewicki Organ is coming up THIS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6,at 6:30 PM here at Greenfield Avenue Church!

It’s going to be “Organic, Fluterrific”, & is creatively patterned on a meal!

Featured are: Sheri Masiakowski, Organ; Donna Hryniewicki, Flute; Nicole Martin, Flute; Melissa Gall, Cello. A reception will follow. PLEASE INVITE YOUR FRIENDS, for we’d LOVE to have a full church. Admission is FREE, (though gifts of any size to benefit our Music Ministry will be greatly appreciated.)

Hello, Loved Ones

Our upcoming Olde Tyme Christmasse Faire scheduled for Saturday, December 8, from 2 PM to ??? is really promising to be something special. I’m really grateful for all the interest and energy surrounding it.

Regarding the “Faire” - I have an opportunity for each of us to put on our “creative thinking” hats!!!

Thanks to some very generous gifts already - the silent auction part of our celebration proves to be most spectacular

So - here’s the challenge - is there something - something creative - something extraordinary - you could donate to the auction? It doesn’t have to be a “thing.”

For instance - I have two ideas for a contribution from our family. The first is a complete backyard barbeque steak dinner for four at the Tarvids - (I’m thinking real steaks - not just tube steaks)

Here’s my other idea: (Sally thinks I’m a little whacky on this one):

I’m working on an all-expense paid - fun filled - two-night - three day - guided tour entitled: A Return to Rev Kev’s Roots!

I’d love to show folks my little home town - some of the real landmarks - like my favorite cave - and my favorite rock - etc. etc.

If all the stars align - I’m hoping to book us at Northern Bay Resort - and get some of us on the Golf Course. (Prayer is in order)

Anyway - so here’s just a sample of the wild ideas we can come up with to make the auction a wild success Let us know!!!

Anything you can do to help will be most appreciated! God loves you! Me too! Pastor Kevin

FOR THE FAIRE We need MANY helping hands! It’s to be a CATERED MEAL (but TICKETS to the meal must be purchased in advance; they’ll be on sale, soon, & the price will be VERY reasonable only 100 available ) Then, we need folks to SERVE the meal; & strolling minstrels & singers; & those willing to help create costumes (the dress can be anything from Medieval to Dickensennian). We’re having an “Alternative Gift Shoppe”, which means purchasing CHARITABLE gifts for the “folks who have everything” on your list; a “Traditional Gift Shoppe”, (including items from our Sheri Masiakowski’s Seasons of the Heart”; and, of course, if you have quality items that can be used for our SILENT AUCTION or KNOW of someone who might DONATE please let Terry Arenz know, (321-7354) so she can speak with them about the possibilities. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

SPECIAL PEOPLE

Prayers for:

Lin Bradley, now undergoing kidney dialysis 3 times each week.

Mary Lefevre, who fell while doing volunteer work, & broke a hip. She had surgery to repair it on Oct. 27, & word is that she’s doing well. She’s now at Linden Grove in Menomonee Falls, recuperating.

The Haschker family. Joanne’s stepfather passed away in late October.

Ed Leintz had a severe reaction to a spider bite (probably the very toxic brown recluse.) It’s much better, but it was a difficult situation.

Dave Karrels, who underwent a bit of surgery. He’s recovered nicely.

Marj Tarvid, (Pastor Kevin’s mother), whose health continues to decline.

Joy:

That we received David & June Alessi (with daughters Grace & Norah); Trevor & Kelly Buchholz (with daughters Katelyn & Brook); Norma Jean Larson; and Peter Zoeller into membership on October 14.

That Megan Paul (who married Deanna’s son Steven Ewert here on Oct. 20) was baptized on Oct. 14.

That Mark Brodaczynski began a new, full-time job on Oct. 22. He’s teaching pharmacy technicians. Congratulations, Mark! (He’ll continue his weekend job as an EMT.)

For Gene & Becky (Leintz) Pope, who were wed in Georgia on October 20.

For Gene Pope (& the Leintz/Pope family) on his new job in the office of the Attorney of the State of Georgia.

That medical tests for Zack Miklautsch & Gail Kloes went very well. They’re okay!

Thanks to Pastor Kevin & the congregation for the sparkly red “Christmas tree” decoration presented me on the occasion of my 25th Anniversary as Church Secretary/Administrative Assistant. (The “official” date was Oct. 1.) The “tree” will look SOOO festive! What fun!

THANKS, THANKS, THANKS, TO:

EVERYONE who helped make FALL FEST such a smashing success! Together, we make astonishing wonderful things happen! Very special thanks for all the hard work of our coordinators: Lori Johnson, Laurie Kadunc, & Laurie Karrels!

and ...

Thanks to everyone who came out to support our Peace & Justice Luncheon, & to our Guest Speaker E. Michael McCann, (former Milwaukee County District attorney.) It was an incredible experience! Thanks, too, to Sherman Stock, who arranged for Mr. McCann to be present; & to our wonderful GAPC “P & J” Committee, for all it’s hard work!

and ...

The Rev. Mr. Bill Dummer, who spoke to the Adult Discussion Group on Oct. 14; about a proposed partnership between the Presbytery of Milwaukee & a presbytery in Ghana.

and ...

Bonnie Rosen, who willingly stepped in as accompanist at choir practice Oct. 3, while Phyllis Shudy was under the weather.

and ...

All who helped clean & set up for the wedding & reception of Steven Ewert & Megan Paul on Oct. 20.

and ...

Thanks to the hard work of Hugh Evans, J.T. Gall, & Mike Schmeling, the deteriorating tree & its roots that was on the north side of the church was removed. Look for a new donated tree/trees to be planted next spring.

and ...

To the best office volunteers anyone could ask for, Gail & Dick Kloes.

Adult Discussion Group - Nov. 11 - NO CLASS today. Enjoy coffee fellowship honoring Lynn Heinrich.

Nov. 18 - Special Guest Speaker is Nancy Moravec, a kidney transplant recipient whose daughter, Sheri volunteered a kidney 9 years ago.

Nov. 25 - Barb Brunett & Libbie Jansen will talk to the Adult Discussion Group about their August trip to Russia.

Dec. 2 - We continue with “Ten Fun Things ” (Ain’t it fun?)

Sue Smith leads the discussion.

We really need Nursery Helpers! Please sign up on the sheet at the rear of the

sanctuary. While we warmly welcome ALL children in worship, we recognize that there are times when our “littlest members” need their own space away from the sanctuary. Sally Tarvid will be glad to provide details.

Our YOUTH RETREAT is coming up on Dec. 14, 15 & 16. It’s at Cedar Valley

in West Bend, & is open to all youth 7th grade thru young adult. (The kids are also welcome to invite & bring a friend or two.) To fund the event, they’re selling popcorn thru Sunday, Nov. 11. There are several varieties, & it’s just $6 a bag! (Hint: as a Christmas STOCKING STUFFER, what could be better-received than a bag or two of high-fiber hot-air-popper type popcorn? EVERYBODY loves it!)

Special thanks to our custodial volunteers who cleaned in October:

Bud & Barb Brunett, the Sczypiorski family, Alan Terry, Matt & Eric; JT Gall; Laurie Karrels; Dicksons, Kay Ulma, Lori Johnson, Bill & Joanne Burke. Your help is invaluable!

Dollars & Sense of Giving

Thinking of end-of-year tax planning?

1.) For 2007, & if you are

70 ½ of age & older, you can donate as much as $100,000 to the church directly from your IRA. This counts toward your required minimum

distribution.

2.) Are you thinking of repositioning your investments? Have some done pretty well? You could donate these to the church. You receive the tax deduction of what they are worth now. No capital gains taxes.

Do you know GACP has a brokerage account set up for your convenience?

If you have questions, please call, I can help.

The AGING IN PLACE Resource Fair 2007 takes place Wed., Nov. 7 at the Wilson Park Senior Center, 2601 W. Howard Ave., in the main lobby, from 9:00 AM - Noon. It’s filled with free information about the services & resources that enable seniors to live independently, longer.

JOIN US FOR LYNN HEINRICH APPRECIATION DAY on Sunday, November 11. We’ll applaud Lynn both during worship (with special recognition) & with a coffee & ice cream cake reception following morning worship. (There’s no Adult Bible Study or Adult Discussion Group that morning, so we can visit with Lynn & let her know ho much her ministry as our Parish Nurse has meant to us & how grateful we are that she continues to lead our Thursday afternoon People with Arthritis Can Exercise (PACE) class on a volunteer basis.)

Sunday, November 11 is also National Donor Sabbath Sunday. RuthMary Gamache, who received her “new” heart on December 18, 1995, will have handouts on organ & tissue donation available before & after morning worship. And be sure to visit the Adult Discussion Group on November 18, when we’ll have a kidney recipient tell of her experiences.
